Nexperia Unveils Cutting-Edge LCD Bias Power ICs for Superior Display Device Functionality
New LCD bias power ICs from Nexperia deliver high performance in display devices
Nexperia stands proudly as the epitome of efficiency, consistently delivering unsurpassed quality across the entire spectrum—from conceptualization and design, through manufacture, to logistics and sales—dedicated to meeting the exacting standards of the market and our customer base. BonChip Electronics, in its role as a key distributor, is ready to supply Nexperia's products, including price information, stock levels, and convenient datasheet PDF downloads for electronics engineers and purchasers.
In a significant advancement for compact display technology, Nexperia today unveiled its latest series of LCD bias power ICs, engineered to enhance performance and extend the service life of TFT-LCD panels deployed in a diverse mix of devices such as smartphones, tablets, VR headsets, and LCD modules.
The new series is headlined by the NEX10000, an 80 mA dual output LCD bias power supply, and its higher-capacity counterpart, the NEX10001, which provides up to 220 mA of output current. These innovative ICs boast I²C programmable asymmetric voltage outputs for maximum flexibility, and thanks to internal compensation, they only necessitate a single inductor for both outputs, which optimizes the bill-of-materials and shrinks the PCB footprint. Housed in an ultra-compact wafer level chip scale package (WLCSP) with a minuscule 1.16 × 1.96 × 0.62 mm profile, the NEX10000/1 dramatically reduce the board real estate needed in tight spaces, going a step further than even conventional wafer level packaging.
Irene Deng, General Manager of the Power and Signal Conversion Business Group at Nexperia, expresses excitement for this release: "The introduction of the LCD bias IC acts as a vanguard for our product line. It epitomizes Nexperia's commitment to addressing the power needs and space constraints inherent in the newest smartphones and various handheld electronics. The NEX10000/1's high accuracy output coupled with high efficiency not only conserves battery power but also prolongs display longevity."
The NEX10000/1 have been precisely tailored for TFT-LCD applications that prioritize energy conservation to maximize battery endurance. With an internal boost converter that transitions between continuous conduction mode (CCM) and pulse frequency modulation mode (PFM) based on load currents, they achieve peak efficiency, curbing the power consumption. This helps in elongating the battery life of single-cell Li-ion, Ni-Li, and Li-polymer batteries. Operating over an input voltage range of 2.7 V to 5 V, they also feature excellent line and load transient responses, mitigating output ripple and thus contributing to a more stable image to further enhance LCD longevity.
To address low power considerations in TFT-LCD applications that require longer battery life, the NEX10000/1 have an internal boost converter which, depending on the load current, can operate either in continuous conduction mode (CCM) or pulse frequency modulation mode (PFM) to provide the highest level of efficiency. This reduces device current consumption which helps to extend the life of single-cell Li-ion, Ni-Li and Li-polymer batteries from which they can operate. Both devices have an input voltage range of 2.7 V to 5 V and notably offer excellent line and load transient responses. These features reduce the amount of output ripple to provide more stable images which can help to extend the operating lifetime of an LCD display.
