ROHM Semiconductor Launches New Zero-Drift Operational Amplifier Suitable for Industrial and Consumer Electronics
ROHM Introduces Advanced LMR1002F-LB Zero-Drift Op Amp for Precision Control
ROHM's latest innovation, the LMR1002F-LB zero-drift operational amplifier, is engineered for high-precision use in both industrial and consumer electronics. Its key design targets the reduction of input offset voltage and its temperature-related drift, delivering precise signal amplification from sensors in various measurement devices. The LMR1002F-LB proves especially effective for monitoring current in power management inverters as well as in devices that detect temperature, pressure, flow, and gas levels.
With the growing complexity of automotive and industrial machinery, as well as the increasing demand for precision in application controls, environmental sensors have become crucial in measuring elements like temperature, pressure, and gases, such as CO2, to support environmental sustainability efforts. Amplifying the faint signals from these sensors is essential, but conventional op amps can introduce significant voltage errors due to offset voltage—errors as high as 1V when amplified 1,000 times. Additionally, the traditional challenge of compensating for input offset voltage temperature drift, which changes with temperature and over time, presents design obstacles.
To conquer these issues, ROHM utilized their advanced analog circuit expertise to create the LMR1002F-LB, its premier zero-drift op amp applying the chopper technique. This breakthrough product drastically reduces input offset voltage to a mere 9 µV—a 94% reduction compared to typical low-offset op amps—and minimizes input offset voltage temperature drift to a remarkably low 0.05 µV/°C (Max.) within an operating range from -40°C to +125°C—setting a new standard in ROHM's lineup. As a result, it provides unswervingly accurate signal amplification, which enhances precision control over industrial machinery despite environmental shifts.
Moreover, the LMR1002F-LB suits a plethora of industrial applications courtesy of its broad supply voltage range (2.7 V to 5.5 V) and rail-to-rail input/output features.
Looking to the future, ROHM is committed to enhancing the capabilities of zero-drift op amps, striving to advance noise reduction, power efficiency, and supply voltage range specifications to meet the evolving needs of the automotive and industrial markets. ROHM aspires to be a pivotal contributor to the precision control solutions fostering the resolution of societal challenges.
